Way back in 1972 William Di Segna and Mac Cooper both left their current employer (Metal Surfaces) to start their own plating shop. They purchased a small 2000 square foot shop on Laurel Canyon Blvd in North Hollywood, Ca. Shortly after their purchase Mac Cooper passed away from a sudden heart attack. Macs sudden death left a huge gap to fill. William (Bill) contacted Dave Anzures, Sr. who was still employed at MSI and asked Dave Anzures, Sr. if he would be interested in purchasing Macs share of the company. Dave
Anzures, Sr. agreed to it and that was the beginning of Chapter II for California Technical Plating. In 1976 Bill and Dave decided to open a larger facility in San Fernando, California.
It was at that point that their sales were starting to climb and they were now receiving more Prime Contractor approvals. With the new approvals they were able to attract more new customers and increase their sales. In 1981, following a failed attempt to enter the motion picture industry, I found myself working at California Technical Plating. It took two years of working in the plating shop before I was promoted to a Quality Inspector and soon became Quality Manager. As time went on I became increasingly anxious to learn more about Advanced Quality Systems and the manufacturing industry. In 1989, I ended up leaving the plating business to enter into a world which was much more complicated than I could ever imagine. The Aerospace plating industry was governed by Military, Federal and Prime Contractor specifications. Now working in the high end Window and Door industry, as Quality Control Manager, I soon realized the this industry was much tougher than Aerospace. Now dealing with contractors and homeowners, that didn’t care about industry standards or specifications, I was now dealing with people who just wanted perfection.
In 1993 I landed another position at Hydrodyne, Div. of FPI. Hydrodyne was a large supplier to Rocketdyne, the Space Shuttle builder. Working at Hydrodyne, I was able to bring the experience I had from the plating Industry and mix it in with the manufacturing world. I was Hydrodynes Electroplating expert. After working at Hydrodyne for 3 years I was offered my position back at California Technical Plating. At this point the rest is history, I have been President, Vice President, Quality Control Manager, Director of Quality, Accountable Manager for the FAA Repair Station and Drug and Alcohol Manager also for the FAA Repair Station.
So, with 41 years of Quality Assurance behind me, I have been asked by many existing customers to assist them with Chemical Processing (plating), Advanced Quality Systems implementation and assistance with their FAA Repair Station program. Today, May 3, 2022, another chapter is opening in my life and I am ready to go boating, go fishing and spread the wealth of knowledge that has been shared with me over the past 41 years from my Father, Dave Anzures, Sr., Bill Di Segna, James Boyd of Hydrodyne and many others along the way who took me under their wing to help me understand “Quality Assurance the simple way.”
Thanks for reading!
